Pierce Brosnan jouera dans le prochain film The Last Rifleman.
Variété confirmée Brosnan, jouera un vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale dans le nouveau film, réalisé par Terry Loane (Mickybo and Me).
The Last Rifleman est centré sur un vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et veuf récent (Brosnan) vivant dans un établissement de soins en Irlande du Nord. À l’occasion du 75e anniversaire du jour J, le personnage s’échappe et se rend en France pour lui rendre un dernier hommage.
Le film est inspiré de Bernard Jordan, un vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale qui, à l’âge de 89 ans, s’est échappé de sa maison de santé et s’est rendu en Normandie pour commémorer le débarquement du jour J en 2014.
WestEnd Films a acquis les droits mondiaux du film et présentera le projet au Festival international du film de Toronto. Selon la date limite, la production commencera en Irlande du Nord et en Irlande en hiver.
The Last Rifleman est écrit par Kevin Fitzpatrick et est produit par Katy Jackson et John Leslie. Mark Huffam, Kevin Jackson, Nick Leese, Eloise Singer et Tommy Curran seront les producteurs exécutifs.
« Quand j’ai lu le scénario de Kevin pour la première fois, j’ai trouvé que c’était une histoire merveilleusement touchante, avec un cœur et une âme honnêtes. C’est le scénario que les réalisateurs recherchent : un drame puissant, avec des personnages qui équilibrent parfaitement le cœur et le pathos », a déclaré M. Loane. « Le prix personnel payé par ceux qui ont subi la guerre est quelque chose qui résonne à tous les âges, partout dans le monde ».
« Le voyage audacieux de Bernard Jordan a attiré l’attention de la nation et a mis en évidence l’esprit qui incarnait la génération de la seconde guerre mondiale », a ajouté M. Fitzpatrick. « J’ai été captivé par cette histoire et par les motifs qui poussent un homme vers la fin de sa vie dans une quête vers un lieu qui ne doit contenir que des souvenirs douloureux. »
Brosnan a récemment participé au concours Eurovision de la chanson : The Story of Fire Saga, dont la première a eu lieu sur Netflix en juin. Il apparaîtra dans le prochain film Cendrillon avec Camila Cabello.

Pierce Brosnan to play WWII veteran in ‘The Last Rifleman’

Pierce Brosnan will star in the upcoming film The Last Rifleman.
Variety confirmed Brosnan, will play a World War II veteran in the new movie, directed by Terry Loane (Mickybo and Me).
The Last Rifleman centers on a WWII veteran and recent widower (Brosnan) living in a care facility in Northern Ireland. On the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the character escapes and journeys to France to pay his final respects.
The film is inspired by Bernard Jordan, a real-life WWII veteran who, at the age of 89, escaped his care home and made his way to Normandy to commemorate the D-Day landings in 2014.
WestEnd Films has acquired worldwide rights to the film and will introduce the project at the Toronto International Film Festival. Deadline said production will begin in Northern Ireland and Ireland in the winter.
The Last Rifleman is written by Kevin Fitzpatrick and is produced by Katy Jackson and John Leslie. Mark Huffam, Kevin Jackson, Nick Leese, Eloise Singer and Tommy Curran will executive produce.

Brosnan most recently starred in Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, which premiered on Netflix in June. He will appear in the upcoming Cinderella movie starring Camila Cabello.
