Daniel Dae Kim et Randall Park s’associent pour un nouveau film de braquage qui mettra en vedette une distribution américaine à prédominance asiatique.
Kim et Park joueront le rôle principal et seront les producteurs du projet sans titre avec John Cheng par l’intermédiaire du studio 3AD. Young Il Kim (Billions) écrit le scénario.
Le film suivra un groupe d’amis de lycée qui se réunissent pour un travail de cambriolage. Les studios Amazon ont acquis le film suite à une guerre d’enchères.
« Nous sommes impatients de nous joindre à Young pour raconter cette histoire spéciale d’amitié, de fierté et de communauté. Nous sommes également très reconnaissants à Amazon pour son enthousiasme et son soutien exceptionnels », ont déclaré Kim et Park dans une déclaration commune.
Kim, lors de son entretien avec Deadline, a comparé le film à Ocean’s 11, The Full Monty et Better Luck Tomorrow.
« C’est une histoire qui met en lumière la communauté, l’amitié, l’unité dans un genre très familier que les gens apprécieront, je pense », a déclaré Kim à la publication.

Daniel Dae Kim, Randall Park set for heist film

Daniel Dae Kim and Randall Park are joining forces for a new heist film that will feature a predominantly Asian American cast.
Kim and Park will star as leads and serve as producers on the untitled project along with John Cheng through studio 3AD. Young Il Kim (Billions) is penning the screenplay.
The film will follow a group of high school friends who reunite for a heist job. Amazon Studios acquired the film following a bidding war.
« We can’t wait to join with Young to tell this special story of friendship, pride and community. We’re also very grateful to Amazon for their exceptional enthusiasm and support, » Kim and Park said in a joint statement.
Kim, while speaking with Deadline, compared the film to Ocean’s 11, The Full Monty and Better Luck Tomorrow.
« It’s a story that kind of highlights community, friendship, unity in a very familiar genre that people I think will enjoy, » Kim said to the publication.
