French Exit de Michelle Pfeiffer a été choisi pour la soirée de clôture du Festival du film de New York 2020.
Cette soirée marquera la première mondiale de la comédie d’Azazel Jacobs-helmed, qui met en scène Michelle Pfeiffer dans le rôle d’une mondaine malchanceuse, Lucas Hedges dans le rôle de son fils et Tracy Letts dans celui de leur chat.
L’adaptation du roman de Patrick deWitt a été filmée l’automne dernier à Montréal et à Paris. DeWitt a écrit le scénario.
« Nous regardons le cinéaste new-yorkais Azazel Jacobs depuis plus de dix ans, depuis que son film Momma’s Man a été présenté dans notre festival New Directors/New Films en 2008 », a déclaré mardi le directeur du festival du film de New York, Eugene Hernandez.
« Maintenant, nous sommes honorés qu’il fasse ses débuts au NYFF avec la sélection de clôture French Exit, un tour de force de collaboration avec Michelle Pfeiffer que nous avons hâte de partager avec le public de New York et d’ailleurs ».
La 58e édition du Festival du film de New York – qui se déroulera du 25 septembre au 11 octobre – consistera essentiellement en des projections en plein air et virtuelles, conformément aux pratiques de distanciation sociale adoptées pour ralentir la propagation du coronavirus.

Michelle Pfeiffer’s ‘French Exit’ to close the New York Film Festival

Michelle Pfeiffer’s French Exit has been chosen as the closing night screening of the 2020 New York Film Festival.
This will mark the world premiere of the Azazel Jacobs-helmed comedy, which features Pfeiffer as a down-on-her-luck socialite, Lucas Hedges as her son and Tracy Letts as the voice of their cat.
The adaptation of Patrick deWitt’s novel was filmed last fall in Montreal and Paris. DeWitt penned the screenplay.
« We’ve been watching New York filmmaker Azazel Jacobs for more than a decade, since his film Momma’s Man screened in our New Directors/New Films festival in 2008, » New York Film Festival Director Eugene Hernandez said in a statement Tuesday.
« Now, we’re honored that he’ll make his NYFF debut with closing night selection French Exit, a tour-de-force collaboration with Michelle Pfeiffer that we can’t wait to share with audiences in NYC and beyond. »
The 58th edition of the New York Film Festival — which is scheduled for Sept. 25 through Oct. 11 — will consist of mostly outdoor and virtual screenings in keeping with social distancing practices enacted to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
