Jay-Z et Pharrell Williams ont fait équipe pour sortir une nouvelle chanson sur l’ambition des Noirs intitulée « Entrepreneur ».
Le titre sortira vendredi. Elle est en conjonction avec le projet de reprise spécial de TIME « The New American Revolution », qui a été organisé par Williams et comprend des conversations avec Angela Davis, Naomi Osaka, Tyler, le Créateur et d’autres sur les inégalités que les Noirs rencontrent aux États-Unis.
Une avant-première de « Entrepreneur » a été mise à disposition jeudi. « Black Twitter, qu’est-ce que c’est ? Jay-Z, qui fait référence au PDG de Twitter, Jack Dorsey, a déclaré : « Quand Jack est payé, c’est vous ? « Pour chaque Gucci, soutenez deux FUBU. »
Sur la piste, Williams chante : « Dans cette position sans choix/Le système emprisonne les jeunes garçons noirs/La distraction avec un bruit blanc. »
Williams a dit à TIME que la chanson « montre à quel point il est difficile d’être entrepreneur dans notre pays au départ ».
« Surtout en tant que personne de couleur, il y a beaucoup de désavantages systémiques et de blocages intentionnels », a-t-il poursuivi. « Comment peut-on allumer un feu, ou même espérer qu’une braise le fasse, quand on part de désavantages en matière de soins de santé, d’éducation et de représentation ? »
Jay-Z est l’artiste vedette de la chanson de Williams. « Entrepreneur » a été produit par les Neptunes, le duo de Williams et son collaborateur de longue date, Chad Hugo.
Jay-Z et Williams ont collaboré sur un certain nombre de chansons à succès au cours des deux dernières décennies, notamment « I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me) », « Excuse Me Miss », « Change Clothes », « Frontin' » et « Apeshit », avec également Beyoncé.

Jay-Z, Pharrell to release new song about Black ambition
Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams have teamed up to release a new song about Black ambition titled “Entrepreneur.”
The track will be released Friday. It is in conjunction with TIME’s special cover project “The New American Revolution,” which was curated by Williams and includes conversations with Angela Davis, Naomi Osaka, Tyler, the Creator and others about the inequalities Black people encounter in the U.S.
A preview of “Entrepreneur” was made available Thursday. “Black Twitter, what’s that? When Jack gets paid, do you?” raps Jay-Z, referring to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. “For every one Gucci, support two FUBU’s.”
On the track, Williams sings: “In this position with no choice/The system imprison young Black boys/Distract with white noise.”
Williams told TIME the song is “about how tough it is to be an entrepreneur in our country to begin with.”
“Especially as someone of color, there’s a lot of systemic disadvantages and purposeful blockages,” he continued. “How can you get a fire started, or even the hope of an ember to start a fire, when you’re starting at disadvantages with regards to health care, education, and representation?”
Jay-Z is the featured artist on Williams’ song. “Entrepreneur” was produced by the Neptunes, the duo of Williams and longtime collaborator Chad Hugo.
